The jackpot went to Justin Thomas and, although it was an anti-climatic end to the play-offs, the name on the cheque was perfectly justified.
The 24-year-old has been the best player all season – winning five titles, including the USPGA – and the manner in which he tore through the field to finish second here at East Lake only highlighted his nerve and talent.
“It's awesome just because I feel like I played so well this year,” Thomas said. “There were life-changing events that just kind of ended with another kind of life-changing thing for me. To just have my name on the trophy with the rest of those guys is pretty awesome.”
